National Nanny Recognition Week: 8 ways to show her that you care!

Did you know that the last week of September is also known as National Nanny Recognition Week?  A whole week dedicated to the babysitters and nannies that stand by our families, care for our children and facilitate our everyday lives! Let us take advantage of this celebration to show them that we really appreciate what they offer to our children and renew their motivation to keep on working wonders for our families, constantly giving their best. Let’s make them feel special with these eight, easy to put into practice, ways:

1.Time for… surprise party!

You don’t have to go the extra mile here. All it takes is just a few balloons in the room, dancing music at the time of the nanny’s entry and a mood… to party! You can, also put candles in a cake depending on how long the babysitter is working with you (2 candles for 2 years or 3 candles for 3 months or even 15 for 15 days). The children will love every step of the preparation and the bigger ones will surely share with you some amazing ideas to apply. Think of all the nanny’s joy and excitement when she enters the room to this cheerful atmosphere!

2.Make a family video.

A family video where each member of the family wishes the nanny all the best is sure to speak straight to her heart! It does not matter if your baby is too small and cannot send her/his wishes orally – as long as she/he is a part of this loving gesture! Don’t… spare generous words and kind feelings. Imagine her surprise when she will open her inbox and see your family’s wishes! Is there a better way to start your day?

3. A picture is worth a thousand… feelings!

5. A handmade card.

Kids love to make cards and their imagination never rersts! The card, in addition to a painting, may include the poem that we talked about before, or even a list of the reasons why they consider their babysitter unique. If their age does not allow them to write on their own, we compile that list for them, using their own wording. A sure way to get their nanny emotional in no time!

6. What is a celebration without a gift?

Comfortable workout pants and sneakers, a pair of pyjamas, a soft blanket for her relaxing on the couch when the baby is asleep,  a ticket to watch her favorite concert or a gift card to use it at will is an active and “loud” proof of your appreciation!

7. Everybody loves a day off!

On first thought, it seems inconvenient and impractical. The reason you’ve hired your babysitter in the first place is that someone is always there taking care of your child so you can focus on your work. Still, imagine the joy this unexpected offer will give her; the opportunity to relax for a day in order to return with renewed energy! Think of using this opportunity to also get you… a day off from your job and spend the day with your little one.
