Babysitter for one child, 13 years old, Genève

Full Time Tutor/ Nanny with special needs teaching credentials required
We are looking for a residential tutor/nanny for a family, to care for an 8 year old dyslexic girl within a semi-formal household.

Summary:
An inspirational, experienced and independent individual is sought as a residential tutor/ nanny for a family, based in Switzerland.
The proposed gross salary is £35,000 plus GBP per annum, dependent on experience.

Background:
The family are mainly based in Switzerland but also have a home in London, UK where there will be occasional visits to.

The mother and father are keen that the child is given focused and supportive tutoring, taking into account her dyslexia, which will enable her to make enormous progress academically throughout the year, reinforcing basic skills such as literacy and numeracy and developing a love of learning. They also want the person to nurture and care for their child and be confident and happy in playing together and taking part in the non-academic daily activities.
This position is a mixture of shared care, sole charge. The working days are Wednesday to Sunday (with flexibility to have some weekends off). There will be holiday travel.
The family also employ domestic help and have a pet dog.

The child:
The girl is happy and healthy 8 year old who loves music, drawing, theatre, playing the piano, singing and dancing.

The Role of the Tutor/ Nanny:
The family are looking for an experienced, educated, energetic, caring, fun and competent residential tutor with special needs experience to support and nurture the child with her academic studies, especially reading and maths. The individual must enjoy cooking and understand dietary requirements in order to prepare healthy well balanced meals, continue with routines and structure and to conduct the normal nursery duties such as help get the child ready for school in the morning, including breakfast, and drop off/ collect her daily from school.
In the afternoons/evenings, a tutoring timetable would be adhered to as well as additional activities, such as organising and coordinating after school activities, helping with homework, encouraging the child to enjoy education, overseeing meal times, play dates and bedtime routine.

Essential:
A native English speaker
Extensive experience of teaching UK curriculum
SEN experience and an ability to teach in a variety of teaching styles to suit the young girl
A willingness to be flexible and demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude
DBS checked
Desirable:
· Fluent in French
· A non-smoker
· Full clean driving licence

The emphasis is on flexibility; finding a tutor who will not clock watch or feel aggrieved if one day is slightly longer than planned but will enter into the working relationship with a ‘give and take’ attitude. The family have always enjoyed very good working relationships with nannies and tutors and this runs on the understanding that they will be fair and generous to a tutor who will reciprocate with a positive attitude. The nature of this role means that there may be changes of plan at short notice and therefore the tutor will be required to adapt and embrace this as required.

Accommodation & Transport:
The accommodation would consist of own bedroom and own bathroom. A car driver is essential and a vehicle will be supplied for nursery duties.
The family will pay for all travel when working, including flights home.

Holiday
30 days holiday

Term
The contract is due to begin on 5 January 2019, although it may be possible for the tutor to begin slightly earlier if they are available. The post is for 1 year initially but may extend if the family have a requirement into the following year.

Please apply with a photo, CV and any available references and teaching qualifications.
Any successful candidates must have verifiable references and be DBS checked.
